What Optical Wonderful collects, how cookies are used, and how Google AdSense and other third parties may serve personalized advertising on this site.

Last updated August 15, 2026

This policy explains what information Optical Wonderful ("this site," "we") collects when you visit, and how that information may be used - including by third-party advertising partners.

Information we collect directly

Optical Wonderful does not require account creation and does not run a comment system. The only information we receive directly is what you choose to send us - for example, if you email us via the Contact page, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use that information only to respond to you and don't add it to a mailing list without your explicit opt-in.

Cookies and similar technologies

Like most websites, this site can use cookies and similar local storage technologies for two broad purposes:

  • Essential cookies - used to remember basic preferences, such as your cookie-consent choice itself, so you're not asked again on every page.
  • Advertising and analytics cookies - used, where you've given consent, to serve personalized ads and to measure how the site is used. These are set by third parties, primarily Google, as described below.

On your first visit, a cookie banner asks you to choose between "essential only" and "accept all." Advertising and analytics cookies are not set until you actively choose "accept all" - see Your choices, below, for how to change this at any time.

Google AdSense and advertising

This site is monetized, in part, through Google AdSense. When enabled, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites across the web, a practice generally referred to as personalized or interest-based advertising.

Specifically, Google may use data to:

  • Serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet
  • Measure ad performance and site traffic

You can:

  • Opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google's Ads Settings or the industry opt-out at optout.aboutads.info.
  • Decline non-essential cookies on this site directly using the cookie banner or the link in the footer - this prevents personalized-ad cookies from being set here in the first place. Choosing "essential only" does not necessarily stop Google from serving non-personalized ads, which may still use limited, non-cookie-based signals such as your approximate location from your IP address.
  • Review Google's own data practices in Google's Privacy & Terms documentation, which covers how Google's advertising products use data across the sites and apps that use them.

EEA, UK, and California visitors

If you're located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or California, additional rules apply to how personalized advertising cookies can be set:

  • EEA/UK (GDPR / UK GDPR): personalized-ad cookies are not set until you give affirmative, opt-in consent through the cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time using the same banner controls.
  • California (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, which you can exercise using the "essential only" option in the cookie banner or the Google opt-out links above.

Analytics

If site analytics are enabled, they are used only in aggregate to understand which pages are useful and to fix broken links or slow-loading pages - not to build individual visitor profiles beyond what's inherent to the advertising cookies described above.

Data retention and third parties

We don't operate our own visitor database beyond basic web server logs (which typically include IP address, browser type, and pages requested, and are retained only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting). Any data collected by Google via AdSense or related products is governed by Google's own retention and privacy practices, linked above - we don't have visibility into or control over that data once it's collected by Google.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially - for example, if we add a new advertising or analytics partner - we'll update the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
